Freelance Music Teacher (f/m/d) | Early Childhood / Preschool

To support our Early Learning Center, we are currently looking for a freelance music teacher to work with 8 groups of children aged 3 to 6, starting as soon as possible.

Berlin Metropolitan School is the largest international school in Berlin. More than 1,000 students are currently taught and supported by around 200 teachers and educators, following international standards while meeting local educational requirements. Our educational programme begins in the Early Learning Center for children aged three and continues through to Grade 12 in our Secondary School.

Your Role

• In this role, you will design and lead engaging musical activities for children aged 3–6, introducing them to music in a playful and creative way.

• You will sing songs with the children in both English and German and make music together.

• You will use our music room with piano, drums, guitars and a wide range of percussion instruments.

• Through music, you will introduce rhymes, rhythm and movement, encouraging children to dance, explore sound and participate actively.

• Your sessions should be enriched with fun musical games and creative group activities.

• You will independently plan and structure your lessons.

• Teaching eight groups per week (approx. 5.5 teaching hours plus preparation time).

• Flexible scheduling of teaching hours based on availability, with a minimum of two teaching days per week.

• Monthly invoicing for teaching and preparation time on a freelance basis.

• A completed qualification in music or a related field.

• Essential: Prior experience working with young children in a kindergarten or preschool setting (ages 3–6).

• The ability to introduce music to children in a playful, engaging and age-appropriate way.

• The ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with the teaching team to support the learning and wellbeing of the young students.

• A warm, positive and open personality when working with young children.

• Confidence in classroom management that fosters positive behaviour and an engaging learning environment.

• Very good German and English language skills.
