To support our Secondary School team, we are looking for a passionate and dedicated Learning Support Teacher (f/m/d) in Maths in full-time for a maternity cover position (appr. 1.5 years).

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Support in teaching Mathematics to Secondary students (gr 7  - 12) through individual, small-group and targeted learning support sessions.

  • Support students with curriculum content, mathematical reasoning, problem-solving and consolidation of foundational skills.

  • Identify gaps in mathematical knowledge and understanding and plan appropriate teaching interventions.

  • Plan and deliver structured, differentiated Maths instruction according to students' individual levels, needs and learning profiles. Provide targeted Maths intervention for students who require additional support to access and progress within the Secondary Maths curriculum.

  • Adapt Maths materials, tasks, explanations and teaching approaches to make curriculum content accessible.

  • Support students in preparing for classroom assessments and external examinations, where appropriate.

  • Collaborate with Secondary Maths teachers to ensure that learning support is aligned with classroom teaching and curriculum expectations.

  • Provide in-class Maths support where appropriate and possibly in STEM classes.

  • Work with Head of department to monitor and assess student progress and adjust teaching and intervention accordingly.

  • Support the implementation of appropriate classroom accommodations and examination access arrangements.

  • Maintain appropriate records of teaching, interventions and student progress.

  • Participate in relevant department, Student Support and student review meetings.

Job requirements

Essential

  • Degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or a related subject with appropriate Mathematics teaching credentials.

  • Teaching Mathematics qualification.

  • Experience teaching Secondary Mathematics.

  • Knowledge of Secondary Maths curriculum content and progression.

  • Ability to identify gaps in mathematical understanding and provide targeted intervention.

  • Strong classroom, communication and organisational skills.

  • Commitment to inclusive education and safeguarding.

  • Professional proficiency in English.

Desirable

  • Experience differentiating Maths instruction for students with different levels of attainment and learning needs.

  • Experience teaching IGCSE and/or IB Mathematics.

  • Experience in Inclusion.

  • Experience supporting students with additional learning needs within Mathematics.

  • Knowledge of dyscalculia and specific Mathematics learning difficulties.

  • Experience working with students with dyslexia, ADHD, autism, executive-function difficulties or processing differences.

  • Other Training or experience in Learning Support, SEN/SEND or Inclusive Education.

  • German language skills are an advantage.
